Khamiir with nigella seeds

This a basic fried dough leavened with yeast and flavored with nigella seeds, deep fried until golden puffed up and airy inside. Ingredients
  1. 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose plain flour
  2. 1 cup milk/water
  3. 2 tablespoons of butter/oil/ghee
  4. 1 teaspoon yeast
  5. 1 tablespoon sugar
  6. 1 teaspoon nigella seeds
  7. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  8. oil for frying
  9. more flour for kneeding
Instructions
  1. In a bowl add the flour yeast, sugar, nigella seeds and salt, rub the butter untill the mixture resembles bread cumbs, Gradually add enough water or milk to form a dough.
  2. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and leave in a warm place until it doubled in size.
  3. Knead the dough and roll on a floured surface, cut the dough in to various shapes with a sharp knife.
  4. Deep-fry in batches until golden on both sides, turning them once, drain on kitchen paper.
  5. Serve with dates and tea.

    I just want to ask is this crispy or is it soft?
    I made something similar but it was more hard and thats not what i want.

    • This will be actually on the softer side, I think it is what you are looking for. Let me know how it turns out.

    • Thanks Zahra for you comments, I think there is something about habba sauda and the khamiir the combination is wonderful.

      When I can do make ambabur for eid and other times as well.

    • Sandie, you can find Nigella seeds in Indian or Middle eastern stores some other names are also called for this spice:
      (kalonji black onion seeds, black cumin and black caraway)
